Gov. Mike Easley broke his silence late this morning about the mental health debacle that’s been chronicled in the News & Observer.

Easley stood next to state Health and Human Services Secretary Dempsey Benton and praised Benton as the right man to fix the mental health system’s woes. Easley called on state lawmakers to give Benton more power to make necessary changes in the ailing mental health system.
