An email I received Thursday morning reads, in part:

Who will win the election? A new ?poll? is being developed in Statesville, NC ? the ?Great Heads of Statesville Exit Poll.? Invitations will be sent out soon, but we would like to get on your calendar now, if possible. . .

On Wednesday, October 20, 2004, the city of Statesville, North Carolina, will hold a media preview at 11am for the Crossroads Pumpking [sic] Festival, a street festival on Saturday, November 6. During both events, there will be catapulting contests.

On Oct. 20, we?ll be catapulting pumpkins dressed up as political candidates. On a local soccer field, we?ll have two catapult machines set up. At the other end, we?ll have poles in the ground to measure the distance.

Before we launch the first ?head,? we?ll remove the hanging chads. Then, reporters will pull the levers to see how far the ?heads? fly. After each one splatters, a clean-up crew will tidy the area, as we want a ?clean election.? The ?heads? that sail the fartherest will win the ?Great Heads of Statesville Exit Poll.?

Someone is obviously out of his gourd.
