The local daily has posted some numbers on what healthcare shall cost. Don’t say, “Take the subsidy, foo!” because the few I know who have tried to make the math work have run out of taxpayers. For specific details, I recommend the Kaiser Family Foundation calculator, if you haven’t already played with it.

Shall we whine? $20,000 is ridiculously high income amongst the Ashevillians I know. Rich people as these are expected to give generously to the unemployed and those who do not believe in money. Those kind of wages come with 1099’s, too. These are they who are advised to keep their cars, with their high insurance rates, so they can drive the poor to medical appointments and such. $350 rent is ridiculously low, and it comes without kitchen privileges, shared bathrooms, insufficient heat, and all that. Now, let’s consider those people with master’s degrees earning $10,000, and those who don’t believe in money, or those who are unemployed. Are we supposed to just believe and have the good energy pay for our unwanted healthcare?
