A University of Vermont professor argues that No Child Left Behind’s school evaluation model (Adequate Yearly Progress or AYP) should be suspended until “its merits can be confirmed or refuted by scientific evidence.”
I am all for this. Think of how many ineffective (or detrimental) and wasteful educational programs we could have avoided: New Math, open classrooms, whole-language, the Learn and Earn/Early College initiative, etc.
