Dear Wormwood:

As you know, conservative patriots are not very happy that we have convinced those in power to bestow abundantly those entitlements that increase dependency. They are recalcitrant to accept Marx’ theory of the haves and have-nots, when in fact that will be the foundation of our next strategy.

Instead of viewing the haves and have-nots as those with and without money, we need to reframe the classical inequity as a struggle between those with and without entitlements. Is there one special interest group, pitiable, yet conservative?

Yes, our medical malpractice suits and insurance plans have been snaring several of the older and wiser generation into dependency on us – I mean, government – for basic healthcare. But here’s a better idea.

I’m afraid my little nephew that you must infer somewhat between the lines, as the John Locke Foundation is a nonprofit organization, and our plan to silence anything moral, virtuous, or lovely coming out of 501(c)(3)’s is all but magnificently complete.

Your affectionate uncle, Screwtape
