Musing 1: The price of liberty is eternal vigilance. Some of you may have noticed I did not blog last night. I could make the excuse that it was time to claim some of that liberty I’ve been buying. Surrounded by exciting papers on Coulomb gauges, possible Machian propellantless propulsion, and Amperian forces, it is difficult to care what people who have accumulated powers beyond the threshold of responsible application want to tell me, but duty calls.

Musing 2: I drove past Dr. Carl Mumpower’s office today. He is city councilman for about two more days. An unconfirmed rumor is wafting about to the effect that Mumpower will not run for Congress against Heath Shuler. Hardly a person is believing this, most of whom likely wish it not to be so. Yet, it occurred to me it is in Mumpower’s rational selfish interest not to run. He is a psychologist. Think of all the patients he’ll get with no voice of reason to be heard in local, state, or federal government.

Musing 3: Let’s see if the local newspapers are covering public policy issues yet.
