During Asheville City Council’s legislative update tonight, the public learned that the CRA was undone today. A bill repealing its creation was put forth and sailed all the way through both houses, evidently. Since everything revolves around MEEEE, I would have to guess the reason this happened is to prove what a drip I am. I was going around calling the CRA a controversial unelected taxing authority, and we know the legislature cannot consider new and controversial legislation in Short Session.
Representative Tim Moffitt is taking credit for adding the repeal in an amendment to H531, which pertained to adjusting the boundary between Asheville and Weaverville. Right now, the NCGA web site is not showing the bill to have passed entirely.
