In a silly but very revealing flap, a group of University of Chicago professors has come out swinging against the creation of an institute named for the school’s most famous scholar. Their arguments are feeble cover for the obvious truth: they simply don’t want any more of the sort of economic analysis for which Milton Friedman was famous — analysis that overwhelmingly found that free markets and economic liberty work better than socialism and government meddling.

I comment on this dustup here.
