I tried to vote this morning, but the long line was not moving. The people ahead of me said it hadn’t been moving since they’d been there. Enraged, I started to appreciate the concept of competency tests for voting. Seriously. If people cannot figure out their ballots in half an hour, I question how well they vetted the candidates and on what grounds. Thirty people were taken offline for half an hour.
OK. I really don’t support competency tests because I know they would declare anybody with traditional values insane. I’m rather encouraging everybody with a basic understanding of economics and public policy to get out and vote, maybe take a lawn chair and a good book, too. The weather’s fine today.
