The newest episode of the Head Locke podcast is out and the topic is voter ID. In November, North Carolinians will be asked to consider a constitutional amendment that would require all voters to present a valid photo identification before casting their ballot.
A SurveyUSA poll commissioned by the Civitas Institute found that 69 percent of a sample of registered voters support the amendment. Republican and unaffiliated voters strongly support the measure. Democrats are divided due to the belief among many liberals that the identification requirement suppresses the vote of ethnic and racial minority citizens.
Mitch Kokai, senior political analyst for the John Locke Foundation, joins Terry to dissect the often contentious debate over voter ID laws. Listen to the podcast here or download and subscribe on iTunes!
