The Macon County Commissioners wish to buy a plot to create “a sprawling baseball and recreation complex.” The parcel would cost $550,000, and for another $550,000, it could be improved with two baseball diamonds and a parking lot. For ten times as much, the master plan, complete with trails and a playground, could be implemented. Standing in the way are historical significances that required a study for discovery and local ordinances that would make grading difficult.

Commissioner Paul Higdon said the property was overvalued by about 150%. He was challenged for not supporting Little Leaguers. To this, he replied that it was not kind to saddle youth with debt, either.

We all know we cannot reduce government fluff lest elimination of meaningless employment negatively impact job growth. Parks & Recreation is a special class of government fluff, the elimination of which would destroy jobs and also make children obese.
