Recently I happened across some out-of-state letters to the editors of the Seahawk, the student newspaper of UNC-Wilmington. I thought that was odd because the paper didn’t suggest that the out-of-state writers were UNCW alumni. Then today I saw the same names and letters in The Carolinian of UNC-Greensboro. Here they are:

UNC-Wilmington
? Timothy Smith, Rehoboth Beach, DE
? George A. Clark, Hartford, WI

UNC-Greensboro
? Timothy Smith, Rehoboth Beach, DE
? George A. Clark, Hartford, WI

The Carolinian also had another out-of-stater chiming in:
? Paul G. Jaehnert, Vadnais Hts, MN

So I’ve begun to check to see if these people have been published elsewhere. So far I’ve found the Timothy Smith letter published in The New York Times, The Baltimore Sun, several smaller papers, as well as the following university papers:
? The University of Miami Hurricane (with the addition of “My elderly in-laws live in Florida, and members of our extended family live throughout the state”).
? The University of Nevade, Las Vegas Rebel Yell (with a postscript of “I’ve always enjoyed my frequent visits to Nevada, though I am not a resident. But Nevada is such an important state in this election, I am compelled to write. Thank you for your consideration.”).

I haven’t seen the George A. Clark letter in another university paper, but it was published in at least two other papers.

The Paul G. Jaehnert letter, meanwhile, has appeared in many places, including a publication called American Muslim Perspectives, and the following university papers:
? St. Cloud State University’s University Chronicle
? UNLV’s Rebel Yell
? Louisiana Tech’s The Tech Talk
? University of Wisconsin-River Fall’s Student Voice
? Weber State University’s Signpost
