Don Carrington was enlisted as a guest speaker and
participant at Saturday’s meeting of the North Carolina Institute of
Political
Leadership.  The topic was the formulation of the state budget,
which gave Carrington the opportunity to share JLF’s Freedom Budget
2005
ideas. Meantime, Paul Chesser has leadership suggestions for Democrats
and Republicans weighing their chances in the 2008 election for North
Carolina governor. Writing in the Raleigh News & Observer on
Tuesday, Chesser listed six issues: end “temporary” tax hikes,
criticize boondoggles and demand ethical behavior, address illegal
immigration, improve roads, endorse a constitutional amendment
prohibiting same-sex marriage, and end corporate welfare. On the
subject of incentives, the Wilmington Star-News turned to John Hood for
perspective this week on local economic development incentives.
