If you are heading toward the Grand Strand in the next few weeks, you might want to give McBee a wide berth. Seems the town is in the midst of an ongoing speed-trap/corruption scandal down Chesterfield County way.
A South Carolina state grand jury last week indicted McBee’s police chief and a local judge on corruption charges. Allegations are that McBee officials would make criminal cases go away in exchange for cash or cars.
Neat little operation. Then again, Myrtle Beach cops would always drive drunk kids to the ATM so that they could pay off their fines in cash, on the spot. Ah, South Carolina. Nothing like it.
