As Katherine explains in her new Spotlight report, The Case Against CON; A law that prevents health care innovation on North Carolina’s outdated and flawed Certificate of Need laws,  “What the healthcare industry needs is a strong dose of disruptive innovation – relaxing regulations that will increase provider competition, force downward pressure on costs and enhance patient choice.”

Meanwhile Veronique de Rugy in her piece entitled Innovation v Intervention in Health Care for Reason explains, “….nothing would have as radical an impact on prices and quality in the health care industry as revolutionary innovation—which we’ve seen in other fields, e.g., information technology. For that, we must first free the health care supply from the many constraints imposed by federal and state governments and the special interests they serve.”

Sounds like the answer to government’s solving the health care crisis is for government to get out of the way and let the innovators and market forces get to work.
