That’s what we are down to in the battle of the Dilworth Lowe’s store. The Charlotte city council will declare which side it takes tonight.
By any reasonable standard, the Lowe’s planned for South Blvd. and backing to Dilworth makes sense for the reality of South Blvd., an area in crying need of functioning retail.
But for the fantasy-land of transit oriented development, such “big boxes” like Lowe’s are forbidden. Home supply stores and light rail do not mix because the only thing that mixes with light rail is mid-rise, high-density development.
Let’s see which wins the heart of Charlotte.
