At the Crowne Resort, I was told by a David Gantt supporter that the local candidates were celebrating in various suites. The lady thought Gantt was in suite #20 – something. Now, I could have gone door-knocking, asking, “Where da party at?” but that would have been too much fun.

I may not make it back to the Crowne, because the parking lot and road leading to the hotel is crazy. The place is packed. I chanced upon a serendipitous parking space less than half an hour walk away.

I saw Commissioner Carol Weir Peterson, but she doesn’t seem to like interviews, so I spoke to K. Ray Bailey. He’s expected to win. I asked him what-if. He said he wanted the county to do what Asheville did – hold public forums, prioritize priorities, and develop a strategic plan. He also stressed the need for the commissioners to work together with management – something many feel has been missing.

Buncombe County election results are jammed. Joe Sam Queen seems to be winning in Madison and Haywood counties.

WWNC is pod-casting up-to-the-minute election results for WNC. Host Matt Mittan observed that Pennsylvania was declared as going to Obama, but the up-to-the-minute rolling returns for Pennsylvania were reporting no results at that time.
