A November 14 education forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Macon County Democratic Party “was held at an almost empty Franklin High School auditorium,” according to an article in the Smokey Mountain News.

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason why some events succeed and others fail miserably.  Was the education forum a flop due to inexplicable factors? Are parents growing tired of hearing the same tired complaints over and over?  Parents may have agreed that public school teachers and administrators have valid complaints but chose to skip the event anyway because there are better things to do than hear people discuss what you already knew or believed.  Echo chambers are seldom entertaining.

Obviously, others were turned off by the fact that the Macon County Democratic Party was one of the sponsors.  But I wonder if there is more to the story.
