Major media sources in the North Carolina area are playing right into the hands of Perdue by focusing on the Special Olympics, which is one of the non-profits affected by Perdue’s budgetary cuts. Special Olympics revenue is down. Now the group will lose its state subsidy.

The media has also highlighted Kids Voting, which is also targeted. Kids Voting is a program that should have been trashed ages ago. Many people who work at polling locations express disgust with this program. Crowded poling places have to provide an area to accommodate parents who bring children to take part in this useless endeavor. Poll workers also complain that ill-behaved children have created numerous problems.

There are other non-profits that will be cut, but by focusing on the Special Olympics and Kids Voting it tugs on the heart strings of the public and upsets parents.

At the end of the day, will Perdue and the General Assembly really cut these two non-profits from the budget? Stay tuned and see what happens.
