Republicans say, “the maps are fair and legal.” The democrats say, “See ya in court.” John Hood says we need an independent commission. But as of today, the U.S Department of Justice and the D.C. Courts have the next word. The redistricting plans for North Carolina’s thirteen congressional seats, one hundred twenty state House seats and fifty state Senate seats have been submitted and await preclearance. Federal preclearance is required because North Carolina is subject to the Voting Rights Act.  Some word is expected within 60 days.
