That’s what Himan just testified to. Said no new info was coming in. So, what pushed it over the edge to the injustice it became? It was Sgt. Mark Gottlieb’s idea to do the hoaked-up PowerPoint lineup that included only lacrosse players. Himan said this came at the suggestion of Nifong himself.
He said to “make sure you do it this way,” Himan said. Nifong wanted to know her reactions to each player’s picture, where does she know them from, what part of the night does she remember them from, etc. Plan was to “narrow it down to who had interaction with Crystal,” Himan said.
UPDATE: No discussion was had as to adding non-lacrosse players into the PowerPoint, as per normal procedures. Was done on April 4. Sgt. Gottlieb showed Mangum the photos. Gottlieb told Mangum that people in the photos were believed to be at the party, Himan said. Himan said the April 4 lineup was the only time she was told that the people in the lineup were at the party, which contrasts with the other two times when she could not identify anyone in the photos. No other lineup was ever done. Apparenty Nifong got what he wanted: on the third try, and only after coaching by Gottlieb, Mangum had identified some suspects.
