First the good news. Speedway Motorsports exec Marcus Smith finally got around to paying his 2008 property taxes, including almost $800 in interest penalties.
The bad news is Bloomberg is reporting that Smith never received a degree from UNC contrary to what the company claimed in filings with the SEC. The money quote:
“I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1992 through 1996 and believe I had the proper credits for graduation,” Smith said yesterday in a statement when asked for comment. “I’m checking with the university now for clarification.”
Maybe like Smith believed he had paid his taxes on time?
