hhAnyone else in South Charlotte get buzzed by flights of Marine choppers between 11am and noon?

First was a flight of three, one each of a Huey, a Cobra, and a Chinook. Then about 45 minutes later four more Chinooks came thump-thumping over at a couple hundred feet, shaking the ground as they went. They were headed roughly east to west and would’ve been noticed by anyone in the Arboretum area at about that time.

There’s no air show that I know of in the area, and Marine choppers are not the normal Air Guard airlift craft that operate out of Charlotte-Douglas. Is Asheville having trouble with hippies again? Drum circles….

Update: Now I’m leaning to this being some flight of the 94th Airlift Wing out of Dobbins, GA heading back home. It is the only entity I can find that possibly flies both Cobras and Chinooks, although I had thought that the Air Guard had given up all its Cobras years ago. I know that was the plan at one point.
