Hey, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford may have had a few uncomfortable moments on live TV with Wolf Blitzer, but at least he told the truth. There are no significant differences between President Bush and John McCain — as currently constituted, may change this afternoon — on economic policy.

And anyone thinking that Sanford did the Sunday morning talking head cattle-call to “audition” American Idol style for the Veep slot is confused. Sanford was never a McCain man. The shortlist business was useful to Sanford to the extent it raised his profile for 2012, nothing more.
