Sarah Westwood of the Washington Examiner reports on the “celebration” of a significant anniversary for Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton. Wednesday marked one year since The New York Times “broke the news of Clinton’s private email use.”
America Rising, a Virginia-based political action committee, plans to target key battleground states such as Florida and Ohio with ads that highlight the progression of the email scandal over the past year.
In addition, the group will spend the next 72 hours tweeting out excerpts from the emails that have been made public, as well as negative news stories about the controversy in order to showcase the past year of developments in Clinton’s email saga.
“Rare is the political scandal that so perfectly demonstrates a candidate’s weaknesses as Clinton’s email scandal,” Jeff Bechdel, spokesman for America Rising, told the Washington Examiner. “Voters believe Clinton is dishonest and untrustworthy, and the poor judgment she demonstrated in setting up a private email server to protect herself from the public’s right to know is galling.” …
… “In the past year, Clinton has frequently changed her explanations, attacked independent investigators and misled the American people. If her use of a private server isn’t disqualifying, her handling of the scandal certainly is,” Bechdel said.
