Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Elaine Marshall fires a shot at incumbent Republican Richard Burr, saying Burr voted against protecting rape victims serving as contractors in Iraq.

The issue is whether or not victims of sexual assault working for Defense Department contractors should have their cases heard by the panel established by the arbitration agreement between the government and Halliburton. Note that Stuart Smalley’s in the mix here, offering up the amendment to a defense appropriations bill that would cut off federal funding to contractors requiring an arbitration in the case of sexual assault.

Burr voted against the amendment, saying such arbitration agreement are nonbinding in the case of sexual assault.
