At 9:01, with 54 percent of precincts reporting, Elaine Marshall maintains a double-digit lead over Cal Cunningham for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination. But she has only 38 percent of the vote, and if she doesn’t get at least 40, she and Cunningham face a runoff.
Meantime, incumbent GOP Sen. Richard Burr already has been declared the winner.
