Today would be a nice day to apologize for the not-so-nice things I said recently about the small rural town of Marshall, NC. I arrived at the bank to find it had closed early for Halloween. But that was after I made my way through the crowded streets. It was amazing. I can’t remember the last time I saw so many mommies, daddies, and kids all together. The kids were all in costumes, and some were really cute. I particularly liked a nanoscale teddy bear. The scariest costume was the dad wearing a University of Michigan sweatshirt. Well, bad driver that I be, trying to parallel park after losing a contact lens, I got a little perturbed at the jerk who got behind my car, until I saw he was giving me directions and keeping the tots clear. After I returned from the bank, I had to admire what was probably my finest parallel parking job ever. Figuring out how I was going to pay my rent on time paled in comparison to the neighborly love one could physically feel in the homey hometown of Marshall today.
