The Reverend Amy Cantrell hosted a small rally on the steps in front of Asheville City Hall to raise awareness about the plight of the homeless. Cantrell, who used to be a regular public common tater at city council meetings, advocated just causes. She wants the homeless sheltered, she thinks housing prices in Asheville are higher than they need to be, and she certainly doesn’t want anybody else dying “with a housing voucher in their hand.”

Unfortunately, the solutions she named before city council were ideas known to push prices higher – like land banking, rent controls, and overall greater tasking of government with pumping tax dollars out of the middle class while forcing landlords to raise rents on middle-classers to subsidize low-rent units.
