They’ve talked about it for more than a year, but the Chapel Hill Town Council is still unable to decide if it will rezone the northwest area of the town to force high density development. Meantime, council members seem completely oblivious to the real-world impact their inability to make a decision is having on the people forced to live by what the council does or doesn’t do. Attorney Tom Stark represents property owners in the affected area of town, including Rick Williams, who sat in the meeting last night while council members continued with an endless litany of on-the-other-hand arguments. Note the following excerpt from the story, not only for Mr. Williams’ frustration, but for the absurd requirement the rezoning would have on his medical complex. (emphasis is mine).

But Stark’s client, Rick Williams, did not applaud. He’s tired of waiting to build an orthopedic clinic on his property, where the mixed-use village could require a single apartment or condominium in an otherwise medically oriented complex. “It’s just plain nerve-wracking,” he said. “I don’t know which way to turn.”
