Probably the most underwhelming news I’ve heard recently is that Greensboro Mayor Yvonne Johnson is running for another term. Since when did a run for mayor in a mid-size Southern city turn into an 11-month campaign? And while I’m sure that City Manager Mitchell Johnson wasn’t referring to the mayor as one of the people who didn’t make the “right decisions,” some aren’t so sure.

How ironic that Mayor Johnson, in her New Year’s address, says “we must also ensure that our business owners and families are safe. Young shop keepers should be safe in their stores on a Sunday morning.” That’s a reference to the November murder and alleged robbery at Red Mike’s, which — guess what — was hit again Monday night.
