Technically speaking. The Rhino’s John Hammer sums up Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins’ first full City Council meeting:

So at Perkins’ first meeting he got a lobbyist hired, spent some money on the Coliseum, sold some bonds, moved speakers from the floor to the beginning of the meeting, and accomplished a few other things he had been unable to do under the old council. Perkins also managed to avoid any ugly battles and kept the meeting moving. Perkins wants to get a lot done as mayor, and after one meeting he’s off to a good start.

Note the vote tallies: 8-1 (more money for coliseum director Matt Brown) 7-2 (hiring a federal lobbyist) and 7-1 (a water and sewer bid from which Perkins had to abstain with Mayor Pro Tem Yvonne Johnson taking the gavel).

With votes like that, Perkins should indeed get a lot done. Question is whether or not that’s a good thing.
