It is that time again. Mecklenburg County property tax bills for 2010 officially became delinquent if not paid by January 6th. More than two weeks past that date and several noteworthy names are still listed by the county website has having delinquent property tax liabilities. Among them:

  • DesignLine USA — the hybrid bus-maker Anthony Fox joined in late 2009 — owes over $28,000 on almost $2m. worth of business equipment, for both 2010 and 2009.
  • The single largest outstanding balance is the $887,328 owed by BRIT-Charlotte, which according to state incorporation records is a unit of Maryland-based property managers BECO Management. The property is the 200-acre IBM office complex valued at $125m. by the county, a value BECO evidently contests as it paid only $796,000 of original $1.6m. tax bill for 2010. BECO bought the property for $41.1m. in March 2010, according to property records.
  • One-time Duke Energy spin-off Crescent Resources Inc owes tax on almost 40 parcels, according to county records, including an 80-acre $9m. parcel with over $122,000 in tax past due.
  • WSOC-FM owes over $33,000 on $2.3m. in broadcasting equipment, according to county tax records.
  • Victory Christian Center owes almost $24,000 on a strip mall adjacent to its Old Pineville Rd. campus.
  • The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte owes $55,000 on a $4.1m. office building on Ballantyne Commons Road.
  • Pursuit Development Group Two owes over $21,000 on a Tryon St. condo.

That should do it for now.
