On Wednesday, the city’s light line experienced its fifth fatality involving a train since 2004.

CATS is pressing hard — with the Uptown paper of record in tow — the notion that it can “educate” the public about the dangers of light rail, but past a certain point it is impossible to do anything about the fact that there are fast-moving, hard to stop vehicles in close proximity to people and other vehicles.

Of note is that officials in Minneapolis have not immediately jumped to the suicide conclusion to explain Wednesday’s incident. CATS and CMPD, in contrast, deployed psychic powers to determine what caused the man who was killed along the South Blvd. line several weeks ago to be on the tracks.

Update: The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office has IDed the victim in this incident. Local officials also said they had no idea why the man was on the train tracks.
