Officials there are jumping for joy over the opening of the $5 million Mayberry Solar Farm.
Both Sen. Richard Burr and Rep. Virginia Foxx were on hand to praise the 1.2-megawatt solar-power plant, which was financed by the local Surrey Bank and Trust Co. Fair enough, but the “impetus” for the solar farm was the state’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard.
Just so happens the John Locke Foundation has a few thoughts on the RSP. It’s pretty —- $140 million and more than 3,000 jobs slashed from the state’s economy by 2021.
