Whenever you read a story about the latest teacher turnover report – and there are quite of few of them out there – remember one fact.  The NC Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released a teacher turnover report last month that was completely different than the one released this month.  As I wrote earlier this week,

Either DPI staff spent eight months producing a sloppy, error-filled report that required near complete revision, or they made changes that were more favorable to their ideological narrative.  Either way, DPI is clearly at fault and should be held accountable for behavior that, in my opinion, borders on fraud.

The media does not appear to be interested in questioning DPI’s data or, at minimum, pointing out that the department had to completely revise the teacher turnover report. No, they have a story to tell – Republicans are destroying public education.  DPI’s presto chango with the teacher turnover report simply gets in the way of that goal.
