Mayor Meeker decided that raising the price of water is off the table.  He would rather shut down businesses and put people out of jobs.  The landscape industry is the latest victim of his wrong-headed policies.

NBC17 provides this quote showing his indifference to the people who are losing their jobs.

“There is no attack on the green industry,” Meeker
said.  “Watering outside is not essential right now, although they may
view that differently.  But we really have to conserve all the water we
can.”

Instead of creating a “water police state,” raising the prices allows individuals to trade off an extra minute in the shower for watering newly planted trees.  The mayor and council should learn that it is not for them to determine how people should use water. In a free society that decision belongs to individuals.

Raising the price will allow all of us the freedom to make those trade offs and I am more than willing to spend less time in the shower and not run the dishwasher because I have 35 newly planted trees that need water.
