Mark Johnson, Republican candidate for NC Superintendent of Public Instruction, sent out a MegaForce-inspired press release today. Does that make Johnson the Barry Bostwick of the campaign season?
Ace Hunter, the hero of the 1982 cinematic classic MegaForce, promised “Deeds Not Words” on the movie poster. Mark Johnson promises the same for NC Education, seeks the same from NC Voters (and donors), and hopes for that and more from NC Reporters.
Mark entered the Republican primary for Superintendent of Public Instruction because more of the same can no longer be the only option for NC students and educators. Mark was the underdog. His main primary opponent had a head start by more than a year and had already lined up numerous activists to support her campaign. Despite facing overwhelming odds against his candidacy, Mark won by emulating the heroes of MegaForce – by being disciplined and strategic, Mark secured an overwhelming victory.
By the way, the best quote from MegaForce is, “Oh, I just wanted to say good-bye and remind you that the good guys always win, even in the eighties.”
