The News & Observer headline reads “Wake teachers give school board low marks,” but those “Wake teachers” are all members of the Wake County chapter of the N.C. Association of Educators (NCAE). We’re not working with an unbiased sample here.

Late last year, Jennifer Lanane, president of the Wake chapter of the N.C. Association of Educators, remarked, “They [the school board majority] don’t care about children and it [is] now clear that they don’t care about teachers…WE HAVE [to] PLANT OUR FLAG IN THE SAND HERE AND NOW.”

In July, NCAE boasted that their lobbyists convinced state legislators to “study” Wake County’s diversity policy.

So, we should not be surprised that the survey found that 81 percent disagreed with the elimination of the diversity policy, 81 percent said they had a negative impression of the school board, and 72 percent felt the school system is going down the wrong track.
