Gov. Mike Easley ranks 22nd among the nation?s governors in approval rating, according to a new roundup by Survey USA. He drew the approval of 56 percent of respondents and disapproval from 38 percent. As you can see, the latest result is towards the high end of Easley?s typical range in the low to mid 50s.

Prairie and Western governors top the list. The disastrous Bob Taft in Ohio and Frank Murkowski in Alaska are at the bottom, in the teens. My National Review Online roundup of the 2006 gubernatorial contests is here.
