Amy Sullivan?s column in the latest TIME tries to answer the perplexing question, ?Why didn?t more women vote for Hillary Clinton??
Sullivan offers some interesting ideas but doesn?t spend much time discussing one fairly obvious factor: membership in a particular ?victim? group doesn?t necessarily translate into automatic electoral support for another member of that group.
There?s no reason to assume all women should support Clinton or that all blacks should support Barack Obama, unless you believe members of these groups are unable or unwilling to think about factors other than gender and race.
This discussion also reminds me of a theme discussed in this forum for at least a year.
