Took some time and the statement is little more than a dodge, but the Mint Hill police department has dropped its curtain of silence on the Marcus Jackson incident from last September. The statement released last night, likely in response to prodding by WBTV’s Tom Roussey:

Officers spoke with Mr. Jackson’s estranged wife who stated that she would prefer if Mr. Jackson left the property. There was no evidence of domestic violence. Officers spoke at length with Mrs. Jackson who stated that she did not want to pursue any charges or apply for a domestic violence protection order. Mr. Jackson left the premise voluntarily. Mr. Jackson voluntarily told Mint Hill officers he was a member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

See anything missing? How about any mention of a breaking and entering? Still, this is progress. Next up, definitive word on any contact MHPD has had with the city of Charlotte and/or CMPD since Jackson’s Dec. 30th arrest.

The truth wants to be free.
