No surprise, there were ‘praises aplenty’ from Guilford County Board of Education for Superintendent Mo Green’s strategic plan.

In fairness, though, board member Darlene Garrett did ask some hard questions about Green’s plan, inserting some reality into what was otherwise a ‘kumbaya meeting,’ as board chairman Alan Duncan put it.

Earlier in the day, Green gave a sermon (unposted) before the Greensboro Partnership, which generated some buzz earlier this week:

Green, Guilford County Schools superintendent, said he has meditated about the future with his heart and mind.

“What will we be able to tell our children’s children about Guilford County Schools?” he asked.

As though he were reading from Genesis, Green said:

“I would tell my children’s children that we were not satisfied. And that was good. We wanted more. And that was good.”

I’ll leave that open for individual interpretation. The only question is whether or not N&R reporter Dick Barron inserted the Genesis reference with sarcasm or reverance. I assume the former…..
