Fill in the blanks. You know, kinda like Mad-Libs only without the word “fart,” the 10-year-olds go-to word for a noun or verb:

  • MSNBC has pulled commentators Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann from news coverage of the campaign. I didn’t care that they were libs. The problem was they were predictable, boring libs. Viewers evidently thought so too as they found ways to avoid NBC coverage with the pair front and center.
  • Interesting lib, former SF mayor Willie Brown. Brown writes that Sarah Palin has the Democrats on the defensive and defending the status quo in a year when you do not want to do that. Are you listening Pat McCrory?
  • Long interview with Libertarian candidate for gub-nor Mike Munger in the N&O. Seems like the Uptown paper should re-print this, not more Carlton Tudor columns on how bad ACC football is this year.
  • Speaking of LP candidates, Chris Cole writes to point out that the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Kay Hagan, was among the big backers of the state of North Carolina’s massive subsidy to Dell. You know, the millions in public dollars that brought a Dell factory to the state. And that would be the factory that Dell might just sell off and walk away from very soon. If Dell can find a buyer, that is.
  • Does Mecklenburg County need an inner-city arts and technology center? The usual Uptown suspects are cranking up support for one. Bill Strickland is the man behind the idea, which he started in Pittsburgh. The program sounds interesting enough in a “social entrepreneur” way, but don’t we already do this stuff via CPCC, CMS, and the public library? Full spend ahead.
  • The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says we should eat less meat to combat global warming. If that is the case, the biggest threat to polar bears must be the expense accounts of Charlotte bankers. There are only two kinds of restaurants for those guys: High-end steak houses and high-end seafood joints that serve $60 steak.
  • And we’re out like Gloria Pace King shopping at South Park.
