The Biz Journal reports Montgomery County wants out of the Piedmont Triad Partnership, with Surry County possibly soon to follow.

Montgomery officials want $56,000 in state funding paid directly to them instead of being laundered through PTP, especially since the county “hasn’t seen a single job or business come to the county as a result of the partnerships regional efforts, according to Jackie Morris, chairman of the Montgomery County Commission.”

Other local governments are having trouble seeing the benefits of membership in regional organizations. Remember last year Guilford County questioned the value of membership in the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments before eventually deciding not to join a revised version of PTCOG.
