Buncombe County has announced an end to the TANSTAAFL theory. We may now eat at the had of the federal government, who collects its revenue not by taxing the Tea Party, or even through perpetuation of the Military Industrial Complex through foreign adventurism. Why, the federal government has no deficit, no debt, and no unfunded liabilities. What it does have is a USDA that partners around to get you addicted to its generosity, so it can whip you into compliance simply by revoking your benefits. But we’re too dumb to see that. Partner on!

Summer Meals will be available for ALL kids under 18 starting June 16 – no strings attached!

With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. The Buncombe County Library, Recreation and Culture Department partners with Buncombe County Schools Child Nutrition Department to provide free meals to children during the summer.

This summer, meals will be served at various Park and Library locations on Monday thru Friday at 11:30 am. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child under age 18 may come to eat. For more information, contact Lynn Pegg at 828-250-6707 or visit www.buncombecounty.org/parks.

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like Buncombe County Library, Recreation and Culture Department, to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.
