The story about Duke Hospital workers who cleaned surgical instruments with hydraulic fluid instead of detergent is similar to something that recently happened to us at our church.

My two oldest sons and I were cleaning the building, as we do once a month, and my oldest boy was given the responsibility to clean the windows. A friend handed him a clear plastic spray bottle with blue solution and some paper towels, and he got to work.

Well, those windows, after he worked on them, started clouding up. What happened? Someone had placed toilet bowl cleaner in the bottle, which had been always used for the windows. It took a couple of weeks of repeated Windexing and wiping to finally clear up the windows. The powers in charge of the church’s appearance were not very happy.
