On the heels of Paul’s Four Oaks story, Fayetteville, on the heels of the stunning citizens’ uprising against forced annexation now wants to use Amendment One in their downtown and prior to a new feasibility study on a new convention center (a must for any city with 80,000 folks). From Fayetteville Online:

It’s no surprise that the passage of Amendment One was followed almost immediately by suggestions for a new parking deck in downtown Fayetteville.

And there was no slant here.

The amendment was the subject of a heated battle during the campaign season, with many business, industry and political groups urging its passage while those of a more conservative or skeptical bent opposed it. The measure was narrowly approved on Election Day.

The bonds and a parking deck could be a match made in redevelopment heaven. The parking deck will likely be linked to another major downtown project, such as a downtown hotel and convention center, which is the subject of a feasibility study.

Heaven?
