This time from City Council member James Mitchell, who seems to have assumed the position as lead clown negotiator for the city in talks with the city. From the UPoR:
• “Now it’s time for us to re-engage with the Panthers and talk about a lower-cost upgrade to the stadium.”
Now? Shouldn’t that have been the city’s objective all along? You know, as in they bid high, you bid low, you get a better deal for the city as compared to the they bid high, you say yes strategy the city actually followed?
• “The tether is important to us, it’s important to the Panthers. I just know they want to stay in Charlotte.”
If the Panthers want to stay in Charlotte, why do they need a legal agreement with the city requiring them to do so? And that’s especially true as the team owns the stadium they play in…
