WCCB’s Morgan Fogarty reported last night that contrary to his previous assertions, Nick Mackey continues to owe the IRS — over $12,000 according to documents Fogarty cited.
More puzzling still, there remain questions about Mackey’s marital status. Fogarty turned up evidence of a wife, Mackey has implied he is single — and wouldn’t return the reporter’s calls on these topics.
This is basic stuff any campaign for office pulls from a candidate. The public does not have a right to know everything — and would be foolish to dismiss a candidate solely based on a bad business deal or a bumpy marriage — but the public must know something about those who would exercise great power on their behalf.
